AAU Nationals
Since I am getting a lot of questions on Nationals, and having no answers myself, I thought it would be easier to just let everyone know that I talked to Mary Ellen yesterday, and she is in the process of gathering all the information and getting it out to the coaches probably within the next week.

More info on Rostering - UPDATED
update - I got the link for the coach's eligibility affidavit to work. previously it was not available.
Ok, more info is trickling down. I have information on how the rostering process should go:
1.) Use Form 1 (.pdf version) to submit the information necessary to have a number assigned to your athletes. Submit this form to Mary Ellen Malloy no later than 10:00 PM on the Thursday before the athlete’s first meet. Mary Ellen’s e-mail address is as follows: sunrisexc@aol.com
2.) Complete the traditional roster form (.pdf version) to roster athletes for cross country. One roster for Boys (Novice, Minor and Cadet) in alphabetical order, one roster for Girls (Novice, Minor and Cadet) in alphabetical order, and a third roster for Subnovices (boys and girls combined) in alphabetical order. The roster must be handed in with all required signatures and a completed coach’s eligibility affidavit and check in payment of the roster fee in order for you to receive your athlete’s numbers. Checks should be made payable to Philadelphia CYO-Cross Country.
3.) Roster fees are as follows:
$8 for each of the first ten boys and $8 for each of the first ten girls
$3 for each additional boy and $3 for each addition girl
$3 for each sub novices.
(i.e. a team with 14 girls, 10 boys, and 3 subnovices would pay $181 ($92+$80+$9))
4.)You can submit Form 1 and additional rosters forms for additional runners through the meet on October 12, 2008.

2008 Cross Country Updates
The Archdiocesan Cross Country Commissioner Mary Ellen Malloy has asked me to use this site to keep people updated for this year's CYO Cross Country season, and I am, of course, happy to oblige. Please remember that Mary Ellen is the Commissioner, meaning she has the final say on how things are run, and all questions about Cross Country should be directed to her (SunriseXC@aol.com) .
Due to unforeseen complications, CYO sports' online rostering initiative has been suspended until further notice. We'll be going back to the old days of paper rosters for the '08 Cross Country season. I will post the roster forms later today so that everyone can download them. Please turn in your rosters at the first meet.
Also new this year, Kindergarteners will be allowed to participate at all Cross Country meets, and all Subnovices should be rostered.
The first Cross Country meet is Sunday, September 14th.
A reminder that parking spots along the finish line chute on the access road are reserved for meet officals and that clown with the starter's pistol.
Parking on the grass beside the access road is PROHIBITED by the PHILADELPHIA POLICE DEPARTMENT! You WILL be ticketed if you park on the grass (to the tune of $100 I believe). This is a saftey issue, if people park on the road and the grass, its neigh impossible for emergency medical vechiles and police to get down the access road and turn around. We have had problems in the past when runners inevitably pass out or step on debris while running and need medical attention. Please help us keep our runners (and our operating permit) safe!
Parents and coaches are also reminded that they are not to stand on the access road side of the chute to take photographs. All spectators are asked to stand behind the rope line during races.

Rain, rain go away
tomorrow's forecast is decidedly undecided as of this moment. However, we all know that the rain won't stop us! We WILL run in the rain (but break for lightning). We will have a lightning detector on hand and we are required to stop when it is in the area. Thankfully, since we are running at Penn there is plenty of covered areas. We will try and stick to the time schedule unless the downpour is too dangerous or conditions do not permit.

Rankings
Here is the ranked list of competitors for Champs next weekend. Entry times are based on times at the Area meets, so I would advise everyone to remember that teams from Area C & E ran in much worse weather than Area A and D. Don't be surprised if they drop drastically.

Cross Country Winners
We're trying to get the booklet together to go to the printer, but we are missing information on the team scores from Cross Country. We have all the individual winners, but we don't have the overall team champions or the winners from each age group. If you have this information, I would greatly appreciate it if you could email me. Thanks

Region/Area Champs Meet set up 2.0
Oops!
There was an error in the division set up of the original Archdiocesan Championship Meet back up file. Thanks to those who found it and let me know. I have fixed the divisions to the correct age group in the new file over on the right under "Links" -->. You will NOT need to update the divisions, they are all calculating correctly at this time.
(For reference, divisions should read like this (and only this) for 2008:
1 N Novice 9 - 10 12/31/98 > 1/1/97
2 M Minor 11 - 12 12/31/96>1/1/95
3 C Cadet 13 - 15 12/31/94>1/1/92
4 O 4x800 9 - 15 12/31/98>1/1/92)
So, everything posted below still applies. Only addendum is that you can obviously change the meet name (e.g. Archdiocesan Champs to Region 20 champs) location, start & end date. DO NOT adjust the age up date when/if it asks you to. The age up date is set to 12/31/07 as it should be.
Please call/email if you have any questions!

Region/Area Champs Meet set up
I have posted over on the right a link to download the 2008 Archdiocesan Track & Field meet set up. Its a .zip file that should be downloaded and then restored through Hy-Tek Meet Manager version 1.2L or 2.0. Also I have a note from George O'Connell - Archdiocesan Track & Field Coordinator concerning submitting qualifiers/entries for Archdiocesan Champs this year:
Finally, all parishes/schools who have not yet done so are reminded that we are asking for a $20 donation to cover the increased costs of Penn Relays this year. Thank you to those that have already done so. Checks should be made payable to "CYO Central" and mailed to George O'Connell, O'Connell & Company, Suite 213, 8101 Washington Lane, Wyncote, PA 19095.
All commissioners & coaches are reminded that they must use the Archdiocesan Track & Field meet set-up supplied (Hy-Tek Meet Manager version 1.2L or 2.0 only) . There should be no changes at all to Parish/School names, ID numbers, team abbreviations, event numbers, event names, divisions, or "age-up date" (division DOB marker - 12/31/07). At this time, all known parishes/schools competing have been entered into the meet. The only information that should be adjusted are the number of lanes and lane preferences. If you have questions about this, please contact us before making changes.
All entries/qualifiers from Area Champs to Archdiocesan Champs must be submitted AND usable without correction by us by Tuesday, May 20th, at 5:00pm or your Area runners will not run at champs. This includes the names of all relay runners (including alternates). If qualifying relays are submitted without participants names, they will automatically be disqualified from the meet. Area A, C & E commissioners, please remind your Region commissioners that relay names must be submitted from the Region to Area Champs.
Good Luck
George O'Connell

Also, we need volunteers to sing the national anthem before the meet. Please contact me if you are interested. We'll take whoever volunteers first.
Over on the side I have directions to Franklin Field using google maps, you just need to plug in your start location. In case you aren't familiar, the University City Septa stop is off to the SW corner of Franklin Field (although you might have to walk to the NE gate to get into the stadium).
Races start at 6:30 and relay teams may enter the field no earlier than 5:45.

2008 - registered penn relays teams
Ok, so turns out I was in office today, and won't be much of tomorrow. I'll update tomorrow night for anyone whose roster comes in tonight. Remember, tonight is the deadline!
Here is a link to an excel spreadsheet that shows which teams are registered as of today at 4:30pm. Looks about 50 teams per age group short, probably around 75 parishes/schools total. I better put another load of paper in the fax machine....

Penn Relays 2
In response to the comment on my last post -
The Penn Relays roster form is included in the 2008 Track Packet. I have fixed the link on the right (--->) and it should work now.
Reminder, you can submit your relay roster by fax (215-887-4429), email (myself or george.oconnellcpa@verizon.net), or standard post (see track packet for address). Sadly, Pony Express no longer available. Again, I'll post an updated list of every parish registered, by gender and age group, on Tuesday. (most likely by lunch)
The packet includes the track committee's desire for all coaches to communicate the honor of competing in the Penn Relays and some of the special history involved. Here is a link to Penn's own history page, although its a bit long winded for the kids, I'm sure it will teach everyone something. Penn Relays History

Hey, its Track Season!
Welcome back coaches, parents, and runners! Another CYO track season is underway. Last week we held our Track & Field clinic at Archbishop Carroll HS, if you attended and haven't sent in your evaluations, please do so. Thanks to all of our speakers for coming out and lending us their expertise.
I've updated our links section for the new CYO home page, as well as this year's track packet. We'll be in touch with area commissioners/coaches for Penn Relays submissions in early April.
If you have any questions about CYO track, feel free to email them and I'll work on getting you an answer as soon as I can.
