Penn Relays Video & Photos

I found this video of the Sr. Boy's Penn Relays Finals. It appears they taped almost every race, so hopefully all our finals will be posted at some point. Congrats to all finalists again, unfortunately the weather wasn't very nice, but many teams managed to post excellent times, and got the opportunity to run in front of 39,000+ people!

Below is a link to results for last night's Penn Relays. I'm not exactly sure who posted it, but it seems accurate. I will let you know if there are any discrepancies. Congratulations to all our qualifiers!

update: I've been told this was posted by one of the Penn Relays officials who worked the scoring last night, so no issues are expected. I guess that makes these the official results...

2007 CYO PENN RELAYS RESULTS

Spikes at Penn Relays

The following is a reminder of the note was sent to all area commissioners to be disseminated to all the coaches.

Penn Relays has advised us that CYO teams are not permitted to use spikes at the Penn Relay Trials on Tuesday, nor at the Penn Relays on Friday.

We will be checking for spikes in the Paddock Area on both Tuesday and Friday. Any athlete who is found to be wearing spikes will be suspended for rest of the 2007 season and their coach will also be suspended for the rest of the season.

Running flats or shoes that take spikes without the spikes in them are permitted. Anything that resembles or functions as a spike can not be used.

It should be noted that shoes that accept spikes do not need to have blanks in them, they simply cannot have spikes in them.

Updated Penn Relays Program (again)

I've made another change to the program. We're just adding teams that were missing at this point, so unless you want to know what lane every team is in, you won't need to pull this down if you already printed out the program from last week. Every team that was already registered is in the same heat and lane as before.

Penn Relays Time Schedule

The following is the time schedule that we will be following on Tuesday night:

5:45 - Athletes allowed on the track for warm-ups
6:00 - Coaches Meeting at the Paddock Area
6:30 - First Event - Junior Girls
- Followed by Junior Boys, Senior Girls, Senior Boys, approx 30 mins for each age group.

also, a link for directions to Franklin Field using Google Maps has been added to the links section. input your starting address in the top left box for complete directions. A link for a seating chart at Franklin Field is also provided. Relays will start and finish on the North Side straightaway, and athletes will be clerked in at the West End Gates (in the shadow of Weightman Hall)

We've seeded the meet! Below is a pdf meet program. Coaches should pull down the program for themselves before the meet. A limited number of programs will be on hand next Tuesday as well.

Coaches should be aware that changes may be made to the program if issues/errors are caught. I will post a message if changes are made.

Welcome!

Pretending that we know what the internet is, we've created this blog to keep all our coaches, athletes, and parents up to date on the happenings in the one of America's largest organized youth programs, Philadelphia CYO Track & Field.

We'll be updating you on the first big event in CYO track, the PENN RELAYS, which as of this writing, is just 13 days away! Comments will always be welcome in case you have questions or concerns, or when I inevitably mess up, but let's remember that anyone can read this! (including your runners!)
