The mission of CYO sports is to help develop our Catholic youth through healthy & enjoyable competition. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of many people, past and present, Philadelphia CYO track & field and cross country have grown to be among of the largest and most competitive programs in America. Pope John Paul II will be chartering a bus to go to Nationals. Here is the information:
- The bus (or busses) will leave from the Pope John Paul II elementary school in the Coatesville Area (Chester County) on Thursday morning, November 20 around 7:30. If we get multiple buses, perhaps we can arrange for different departure points.
- The bus will leave Nashville for home around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 23.
- For budgetary purposes, plan on $140 per seat. This could be less depending on the number of riders. The fuller the bus, the less the cost.
- The cost includes all driver gratuities as well as transportation back and forth from the hotel to the XC course on Friday and Saturday.
- We may not be able to accommodate everybody, so please have parents respond as quickly as possible to guarantee a seat. For example, if we get 60 requests and a bus holds 56, it is not cost effective to rent two buses.

XC Results
XC Results will be posted online by Run the Day each week, usually each Sunday evening. There is a link to the righ for their results page. (2nd link down from top)
Reminder - Parking on the grass at Belmont Plateau is prohibited. There were a number of cars ticketed this weekend. This information has been passed to the coaches and posted online numerous times. Parking on the grass is at your own risk! Parking on the grass, on the course, is definitely not allowed! Also, you can not park on the trial going back into the woods.
(The lesson here is we should all be carpooling to help reduce the number of cars at the Plateau!)

2014 Archdiocesan Championship Updates
2014 Performance List
Here is the time schedule
Coaches Meeting - 8:45 am.
Entry into the stadium is free. Entrance to the stadium will be through the southwest gate behind the 100m start. That is the only gate that will be open!
Security update from Penn - new 5/30/14
Seating is restricted to the South and East stands. No one is permitted in the Upper Deck or North Stands during the meet.
T-Shirts and Archdiocesan Champs program, including history of past champions, records and Cross Country champions will be for sale in the southwest corner of the stadium. Awards will also be located in the southwest corner this year. Medals awarded to the top 6 finishers in each event and will be available after results are announced, not the completion of an event. Any medals not collected before the completion of the meet will be forfeit.
The walkway between the southwest and northwest will be closed due to construction on Weightman Hall's roof.
UPenn has advised us that 34th Street will be closed on Saturday. Anyone wishing to park at the Penn Parking Garage located across South Street from Franklin Field should exit the expressway at South Street, turn right on South Street and turn left into the parking garage.
LIVE Results - Kennett-Timing will attempt to upload live results. This will depend on how good the wifi signal is at the finish line. Here is the link
Relays - 4x100 and 4x200 will start and finish on the North side and will be run entirely in lanes. Athletes are permitted to use the fly zone in the 4x200 at Archdiocesan Champs because it is being run entirely in lanes (check out this handy diagram). 4x400 and 4x800 will start and finish on the South side and will break from the gun. The 4x400 will have 2 sections, the 4x800 will have 1 section.
Directions to Shot Put below. FYI - This is the same location as it was in 2010, 2011, and 2012, don't be fooled by all the improvements. Please be cognizant of the Shot Put open pit times and conflict rules!

2014 CYO Night at the Penn Relays - Final Updates
Free! Download and print, there will be no copies available on site.
Update - the timing of when athletes can get on the field and when the coaches meeting begins has been moved up, but is contingent on Penn clearing the track following their practice. These are estimated times, please listen for the call from the announcer.
Penn Relays Security Procedures
Result should be online - live - via Flash Results - you can also follow them on Twitter - @FlashResults
Don't forget to check out this spreadsheet that has all CYO Night at the Penn Relays results since 2001.
CYO Night at the Penn Relays will run RAIN OR SHINE. If we have thunderstorms in the area we will pause the races. Penn has a very accurate lightening meter and they will inform us when we must leave the track and when we can return. We are required to wait 20 minutes after the last lightening strike.
The South AND East stands will be open for seating this year.
(thanks to Mike Smith at MMR for requesting this bib-o-gram from Penn Relays Facebook!)

Penn Relays Roster and Arch 4x200 change
Here is a copy of the Penn Relays roster form.
There is a change coming to the track packet covering the 4x200m relays at Archdiocesan Champs. Due to the nature of track at Franklin Field, where lanes 1 - 4 are less than 400 meters around, it was decided that at the Archdiocesan Championship meet the 4x200m relays will be run completely in lanes. This is similar to how it has been run in years past when held at Franklin Field.
Reminder that team rosters are due to Region/Division commissioners on April 1st!

2014 CYO Track and Field Season
We are less than 1 month away from the start of track season! There were two significant change to the program this year:
The 2014 Hy-Tek meet set up has been updated and is available for download to the right. Please do no make changes beyond # and preference of lanes. You must use the teams as they are listed in program. If a team in your region/division does not have a team name/number, please contact me for an updated set-up.
- Relay alternates expansion. Teams can now have up to 8 athletes listed per relay event. Any of the 8 athletes listed can compete on that relay at the Region/Division, Area and Archdiocesan Championship meets.
- 4x200s will be run using a 2 turn stagger (i.e. first 2 runners in lanes, last 2 runners breaking in) at all of the Region/Division, Area, and Archdiocesan Championship meets. This is a change from the past where at Archdiocesan Champs (when held at Franklin Field) the 4x200s would be run in lanes entirely in lanes. We feel this is a more exciting format and will hopefully put some more drama into the Archdiocesan races!
