I don't have a full summary from anyone who was there, but congratulations to our Sub-Novice Girls and Novice Boys teams, 2016 National Champions!
Request for help -
I need help from someone who is good with Excel and has a little time on their hands for a project. I have CYO XC results from 2006 through 2010 in one spreadsheet and results I think every meet from 2011 through 2016 in other forms (mostly excel, some .pdf which we can convert to excel). I wondered if there was some enterprising person who there who wanted to compile all the information from 2006 to 2016 in one, searchable database.
If anyone is interest, please send me an email!
The mission of CYO sports is to help develop our Catholic youth through healthy & enjoyable competition. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of many people, past and present, Philadelphia CYO track & field and cross country have grown to be among of the largest and most competitive programs in America. This is not an official website of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Terence O'Connell is solely responsible for the content of this blog.

It
is always the coach’s responsibility to be aware of all of the cross country
rules, to abide by them and to make all parents and spectators associated with
their team aware of the rules and the penalties. Any violation by spectators or parents
associated with a particular team will be assessed to the team.
- All runners and parents must stay behind the ropes at all times. Do not interfere with the races.
- If a spectator or parent is asked to leave an area and does not comply immediately, the result may be disqualification for the team from that particular race.
- No pacing is permitted. Pacing is when a person runs alongside the runner to offer encouragement. This person can be a coach, a parent, a spectator or a teammate. This will result in immediate disqualification of any runner in question.
- No runner may receive assistance from any person outside the course. No one may receive water or food during the race.
- A runner in the race may not be touched by an official or spectator.
- No one is permitted on the access road side of the finish line. If you must be on the road, you must be on the far side of all the vehicles.
- No one is permitted in the woods except for the runners in the race and they marshals.
- Let the starter do his job without suggestions and complaints from the spectators.
- All spectators, parents and coaches must leave the starting line area when requested by the starter.
- No child is to be approached while in the chute. All parents, friends, coaches and teammates should greet the runners after they have exited the chute area.
- Results posted at the meet are unofficial. All official results will be posted on-line.
- The meet director has the authority to stop the races at any point in time if coaches, spectators or parents are not abiding by the rules. The races can be resumed when the situation is corrected or the remainder of the races can be cancelled.
- All are to conduct themselves in a Catholic Christian manner.

Penn Relays Roster Form - Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Updated - Penn Relays Roster Form
(There was a typo in the form in the packet - the fax number was our office number and the "Senior" Boys said "Junior" Boys. Rough year for me on the typos)
Happy St. Patrick's Day
Here is a good read about Irish American Athletes and the the Irish-American Athletic Club.
(always important to remember that "Athletics" really means: track and field)
Bonus point if you can point out the unspoken Philadelphia track and field connection!

CYO athletes become NCAA champions & all Americans
Congrats to Emma Keenan, a CYO track and field alumni from our Lady of Guadalupe, who ran the 800m leg for the NCAA Distance Medley Relay Champions, Georgetown University!
Emma currently holds the Cadet Girl's 800m Record - 2:16.64.
plus Tom Coyle from St. Stan's was the 1200m leg on the Stanford Men's DMR which finished 4th!
NCAA results from flash results - http://www.ncaa.com/sites/default/files/external/track-field/results/d1/indoor16/index.htm
(fun note - flash results also does the timing for Penn Relays, including CYO night! (for free!) and their exclusive results formating code was written by Vince Giarraco, from St. Pats - Kennet Square! CYO track and field is everywhere!)

2016 CYO Track & Field Packet
Packet
Competition Changes/Clarifications for 2016:
Use of the fly zone is now limited to the 4x100m relays only. Use of the fly zone is officially prohibited in CYO track and field in the 4x200 at every level of competition.
The 4x200m relay will be run using a 2 turn stagger at every Championship meet, including Archdiocesan Champs at Franklin Field.
The 4x200m relay will include only 5 teams per heat at the Archdiocesan Championship Meet to help mitigate the risks of collisions in the exchange zones.
